Prologue

Welcome dear reader.
I write this letter to inform you that from this day on, you and I begin a nocturnal, melodic journey. A journey that will be special for you and I alone.
As I introduce you to individual songs that carry a mystical, darker or out-of-mainstream hue, you will attribute your own story, your own feelings to these special songs like we always do when faced with tasteful music. Melodies bring back memories or are kept in store for memories-to-be-created in the future.
Expect to come across songs that fall into genres such as alternative, downtempo, trip-hop or chill out. Expect to come across adventurous, romantic or lamenting tunes from motion picture or video game soundtracks. Expect to be introduced to indie artists or various songs of popular singers or groups that fall on the darker side of the moon.
Although genres such as gothic and various types of metal will not be primarily presented among the lines of this obscure meditation, there will be exceptions as long as they fall into our ghastly tranquility. This should not mean that all songs will slow the heart rates for I assure you that there will be waves of unexpected adrenaline.
Each entry that will be added to our playlist will include a link or various links where you can hear a sample of the actual song, provide you with a depiction, an analysis including selected lyrics from the song (if any) and some background information where needed. I might occasionally attach a personal phantasm, a vague story or a poem if I so choose and do believe that it is worth the effort.
If you are an artist/group who believe(s) that their work will suit The Orphic Music Book, feel free to contact me via Orble or leave a comment with a link to your website and the song that you are applying for consideration.
